The Center for East Asian Studies and the Language Translation
Institute of Korea announce an undergraduate Korean literature contest
for UW-Madison studies. Participants will read and write an essay on
one of the following books (supplied by CEAS):

My Sister Bongsoon
by Gong Ji-Young (Oakville, Ontario: Mosaic Press, 2006) |
1st Prize: A laptop
computer and chance to attend an addition award ceremony in Seoul,
South Korea.
2nd Prize: A digital
camera.
3rd Prize: An iPod.
To enter:
1. Sign up and read!
Complete this entry form
and
submit it to the Center for East Asian Studies by
NOVEMBER 2, 2007 (new deadline). We
email you to let you know when you can pick up a copy of the book you chose, either
The Guest or My Sister Bongsoon.
2. Write and submit an essay! Follow
the instructions on the
application form to write a 2,000 word critical essay in
English on the book you chose, and submit it to the Center for
East Asian Studies by November 29, 2007.

We will begin evaluating submissions on
November 30, 2007, and will announce the winners at an award
ceremony in December. The first place winner will be entered
automatically into a world-wide competition run by the LTI Korea,
the three finalists of which will be invited to an award ceremony
in Seoul in December, 2008.
